Spanish municipalities advance local market renovation projects
Municipalities in Spain are advancing significant renovation and commercialization projects for local food markets.
In Vícar, the local government has awarded the contract for the new La Gangosa Food Market. Funded by European funds under the Vícar Integrated Action Plan, the project involves an investment of 532,690.40 euros. The works, expected to last approximately eight months, aim to improve energy efficiency, accessibility, and structural sustainability, including a new entrance from the south facade.
In Cartagena, the local government has approved the tender for the exploitation of 23 vacant commercial units and the public parking lot located in the basement of the Santa Florentina Municipal Market. This follows a modernization process involving investments exceeding one million euros since 2023. These improvements include the renovation of stalls, facade rehabilitation, and the installation of industrial ventilation, with future plans to tender hospitality-focused spaces.
