Spanish municipalities announce various urban and sports infrastructure upgrades

Several Spanish municipalities have announced various infrastructure and sports facility improvement projects.

In Torrent, the City Council will renovate the skating rink at Parc Central by updating the pavement to match the aesthetic of recently installed minibasket courts. Mayor Amparo Folgado also indicated that the administration is studying potential additions, such as a 7-a-side football pitch and improved lighting for volleyball and basketball courts.

Puente Genil has approved a project to cover the northern sports courts at the Francisco Manzano municipal sports center. The project involves installing a 1,600-square-meter metal roof structure, expanding spectator seating to 250, and improving accessibility. The total investment is estimated at 680,000 euros, with works expected to begin between late 2024 and early 2027.

Paterna will invest over 300,000 euros to renovate the pedestrian and cycle walkway connecting the Santa Rita neighborhood with the Fuente del Jarro business park. The project, awarded to Pavasal for 264,483 euros, aims to preserve the existing wooden structure while adding new lighting to enhance safety and connectivity. Construction is scheduled to begin in September and is expected to last five months.
