Spanish municipalities announce waste tax reductions for 2027
The municipalities of Puerto del Rosario and Ibiza have introduced new fiscal ordinances to reduce waste collection fees for residents and businesses starting in 2027.
In Puerto del Rosario, the local government aims to maintain an 18.55% reduction in waste tax rates throughout 2027. The proposal also increases tax bonuses for commercial establishments from 30% to 50% if they contract specialized companies for the door-to-door collection of materials such as oils, metals, wood, or cardboard.
In Ibiza, approximately 4,300 homes will benefit from a 6.1% reduction in annual fees. The new system shifts the calculation method from property surface area to cadastral value, with annual quotas ranging from 79.82 to 333.80 euros for properties valued up to 40,000 euros. The ordinance also introduces social bonuses of up to 90% for certain pensioners and people with disabilities, and increases discounts for households that utilize recycling points at least 15 times per year.
