Spanish municipalities approve new security and market measures

Local governments in Calahorra and Beniarjó have announced new administrative and security measures.

In Calahorra, the Local Government Board approved a tender for 67 licenses for the Thursday street market. These new ten-year authorizations, set to begin on January 1, 2027, will replace current licenses expiring at the end of 2026. Additionally, the city will modernize its traffic surveillance system by replacing 39 outdated cameras with compatible technology through a contract modification with Montajes Eléctricos Pamplona S.A.

In Beniarjó, the municipal council will install a video surveillance network following its selection as the most voted proposal in the sixth edition of participatory budgeting. The project, allocated 10,000 euros from municipal funds, is scheduled for execution during 2027. Officials stated the initiative aims to reinforce public security, improve civic behavior, and enhance the quality of life for residents rather than responding to an immediate security crisis.
