Santo Domingo: Government completes RD$188.6 million sanitation project

President Luis Abinader and the Corporation of the Aqueduct and Sewerage of Santo Domingo (CAASD) have delivered the sanitation and drainage works for the El Indio and Buenos Aires ravines in Herrera, Santo Domingo Oeste. The project, costing RD$188.6 million, impacts more than 25,000 residents.

The intervention covers 850 linear meters and includes the installation of streets, sidewalks, lighting, basketball courts, children's play areas, and a central park. This effort is part of a larger initiative to sanitize 5.4 kilometers of the Guajimía ravine, which is the longest in Greater Santo Domingo. CAASD has currently completed 20 kilometers of the 63 kilometers targeted for intervention.

Local community leaders, including Pastor Teófilo Rodríguez, noted that the community had waited over 50 years for a solution to the issues of pollution and flooding caused by these ravines.
