Spanish municipalities conduct emergency response drills

Various municipalities in Spain are conducting emergency response simulations to test public warning systems and coordination between local services and industrial facilities.

In Puertollano, Fertiberia will host an emergency drill on November 18 as part of the city’s Exterior Emergency Plan. The exercise will activate mobile phone alerts via the national alert network, trigger eight municipal sirens, and utilize information panels. The drill involves emergency services, healthcare personnel, Civil Protection, and state security forces to test the coordination between Fertiberia’s internal emergency plan and the city's external response.

In Paterna, authorities conducted a pilot test of a siren system to evaluate the reach and clarity of acoustic signals and voice messages. The simulation included a three-minute confinement alert followed by voice instructions and a subsequent end-of-alert signal. Local police established nine checkpoints throughout the city to measure signal intensity and message clarity to assist in the full implementation of the system.
