Spanish municipalities conduct vegetation management and tree removal

In Alba de Tormes, the City Council has launched a new phase of selective vegetation control along the Tormes River on Alcázar Street. Supervised by the Duero Hydrographic Confederation (CHD), the works aim to regulate exuberant growth to favor native species while increasing safety and visibility for pedestrians. The intervention focuses on removing invasive exotic species to protect public infrastructure and prevent damage during potential floods.

In Cabra, construction works under the 2025 Agricultural Employment Promotion Program (PFEA) have resulted in the total felling of trees in the green area of Teniente Albornoz Street. Local authorities stated the removal was necessary for safety after excavation machinery created a risk of trees falling near residential homes. The project aims to renovate the space for better accessibility and safety, though the San Francisco/Barriada Virgen de la Sierra Neighborhood Association expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of prior information and the loss of shade provided by the large trees.
