Spanish municipalities deploy new surveillance camera systems
Municipalities in Spain are implementing new surveillance technologies to enhance public security and urban management.
Rivas Vaciamadrid has launched a tender to equip its municipal cemetery with video surveillance and access control. The project, budgeted at approximately 14,960 euros, follows a vandalism incident in April that damaged 107 niches. The plan includes the acquisition of 15 high-resolution color cameras with night vision and a card-based access system to replace manual locks. The Local Police will manage the CCTV system.
In Lucena, the city council has awarded a contract to Innovaciones Tecnológicas del Sur for 280,708 euros to install 67 cameras across 48 locations. This initiative aims to improve traffic management, road safety, and police response times. The system will include 14 license plate recognition cameras to assist in vehicle tracking, though officials clarified that the cameras will not be used for automatic fining.
