Spanish municipalities expand collective solar energy initiatives

Municipalities and cooperatives in Spain are expanding initiatives for collective solar energy consumption. In La Palma, the cooperative Energía Bonita has opened registration for a new photovoltaic installation on the roof of the IES Las Breñas educational center in Breña Baja. This project allows residents and small businesses within a five-kilometer radius to access 100% renewable energy without needing individual rooftop installations.

Similarly, the Zaragoza City Council has initiated a process to grant the use of municipal building roofs in the rural neighborhoods of La Cartuja Baja, Peñaflor, and Juslibol. This measure aims to facilitate solar panel installations for local energy communities, allowing neighbors, businesses, and associations to participate in shared renewable energy production using public infrastructure.
