Spanish municipalities expand home assistance services

Municipalities in Spain are expanding home assistance services for dependent individuals and the elderly through new contracts.

In Soutomaior, the local government has awarded a contract to the company Idades to manage the Home Assistance Service (SAF). Starting September 1, the contract will run for two years, with the possibility of a two-year extension, at a cost of over 1.4 million euros. This represents a significant increase from the previous 802,000 euro budget. The service aims to increase available care hours from 18,100 in 2022 to 30,050, a 66% increase, intended to eliminate waiting lists for those in dependency situations 2 and 3.

In Navalmoral de la Mata, the City Council has opened a tender for a one-year Home Assistance Service with a base budget of 276,149.50 euros. The contract includes 24,080 hours of care. The service is designed to support daily activities such as personal hygiene, mobility, medication management, and companionship to prevent isolation. The winning provider must be accredited by the Extremaduran Service for the Promotion of Autonomy and Care for Dependency (SEPAD).
