Spanish municipalities increase subsidies for local sports clubs

The city council of La Seu d'Urgell approved a €10,000 grant programme for municipal sports clubs for the 2026 fiscal year. The funding is intended to cover ordinary operating costs such as non‑inventory equipment, transport, federation licences, technical staff, and administrative expenses. Applications can be submitted online between 1 and 25 September 2026.

The council of Nules raised its sports‑aid budget to €78,000 for this year, allocating €70,000 to local clubs and €8,000 to elite non‑professional athletes holding federation licences. The deadline for applications is Sunday 13 September. Sports councilor Gabriel Torres said the increase reflects strong local demand and aims to support both club activity and athlete performance.
