Spanish municipalities invest in school grants and classroom climate control
Local governments in Spain are implementing various measures to support students and improve educational environments.
In Siero, the City Council has approved 179 grants for school meals, books, and materials for the 2026-2027 academic year. With a total budget of 194,000 euros, the initiative includes 138 meal grants and 41 grants for books and supplies for early childhood education. The program aims to assist families with lower incomes, ensuring that all applicants meeting the requirements receive aid.
In Benicàssim, the City Council has allocated 77,000 euros to improve thermal comfort in local schools and institutes to combat high temperatures. This investment, which includes 41,000 euros from the Generalitat Valenciana’s Classroom Climate Plan, will fund air conditioning and other measures at IES Violant de Casalduch, CEIP Santa Águeda, and CEIP Palmerar. The goal is to enhance energy efficiency and create better conditions for educational activities during heatwaves.
