Spanish municipalities launch heritage restoration projects
Municipalities in Spain are undertaking various heritage restoration projects. In Tortosa, the first phase of the rehabilitation of the Fortí de Bonet has been completed to ensure the structural consolidation of the building. The project, which cost over 300,000 euros with a 200,000 euro subsidy from the Department of Culture, addressed deterioration caused by lack of maintenance, vegetation, and water infiltration. The works covered approximately 1,650 square meters of the defensive enclosure and access areas. Mayor Mar Lleixà noted that the intervention is part of a strategy to recover the city's defensive heritage, with guided tours planned to coincide with World Tourism Day.
In Vinaròs, the local government is utilizing an occupational workshop for construction and painting to rehabilitate and conserve the Plaça de Bous. This initiative, part of the 'Vinaròs Restaura' program, aims to preserve the historic municipal building while providing specialized vocational training to participants. The work includes cleaning, painting, masonry repairs, and moisture prevention to ensure the long-term maintenance of the public space.
