Spanish municipalities launch mental health awareness initiatives

Various Spanish municipalities are holding events to commemorate World Mental Health Day, focusing on different demographic needs and social challenges.

In Benalmádena, Mayor Juan Antonio Lara has called for increased attention to youth mental health. The initiative aims to strengthen professional training and services to address issues such as social pressure, cyberbullying, and the impact of social media on young people.

Terrassa is hosting the ‘Mental Fest’ at Plaça Vella to combat social stigmas. Organized by the Ocell Program of Foc Volant in collaboration with the local government, the festival features art, music, and community discussions to promote emotional well-being.

Tarragona has launched its sixth edition of Mental Health Month, featuring 56 activities scheduled through mid-December. This year’s program focuses on social isolation and unwanted loneliness, as well as the relationship between digital technology and emotional health.
