Spanish municipalities launch new urban and animal welfare initiatives

Various Spanish municipalities are implementing new urban management initiatives focused on animal welfare and environmental beautification.

In Aranjuez, the local government has expanded its feline colony support by installing two new shelters made from repurposed glass containers. Located on Calle Postas and Calle Vereda de Colmenar, these hygienic spaces are managed in collaboration with the association SOS Felina Felinae to provide controlled feeding and care areas.

Granada has launched an urban beautification project on Reyes Católicos street. With a budget of 218,503.68 euros, the initiative will install 224 planters and 1,120 seasonal plants across 56 light poles, featuring an automated irrigation system to enhance the city's greenery.

A Coruña is transitioning to a strategic management model for its cat colonies using new technologies. The program includes a digital mapping system to track, identify, and sterilize cats. To ensure order, the city will only permit registered and trained volunteers to feed the animals, with potential sanctions for unauthorized feeding.
