Spanish municipalities launch short film festivals

Two different film competitions have opened registration in Spain. In Alcalá de Henares, the Alcalá Film Jam—part of the ALCINE 55 festival—challenges participants to write, film, and edit a short film in just 72 hours between November 6 and November 9. The contest prohibits the use of artificial intelligence and features two categories, Horizontal and Vertical, with prizes of 300 euros each. Finalists will be screened at the Teatro Salón Cervantes on November 12.

In Alcalá del Río, Sevilla, the 'Ilipa, Cortos a Conciencia' festival is accepting entries until November 20. This competition focuses on themes such as equality, diversity, human rights, sustainability, and social inclusion. It offers 12 awards with prizes up to 500 euros, with a portion of the funds designated for NGOs and non-profit associations in the Seville province. Eligible films must be original works produced after January 1, 2026, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
