Spanish municipalities launch urban accessibility and renovation projects

Municipalities in Catalonia are implementing various urban improvement projects to enhance public spaces and accessibility.

In Vilanova, a 136,000 euro initiative is underway to improve sidewalk accessibility, particularly in the Sant Joan neighborhood. Works include adjusting curb heights, modifying corners, and installing tactile paving to assist visually impaired pedestrians. Some improvements are being coordinated with ENDESA during utility channeling works.

In Reus, urban transformation projects in Carrer Ample and Plaça del Pintor Fortuny are entering their final stages. Recent additions to the project include the restoration of the ‘Condesito’ sculpture and the installation of a commemorative plaque for Antoni Gaudí. These updates, costing approximately 54,195 euros, are being absorbed into the existing budget of a larger 2.78 million euro redevelopment plan aimed at prioritizing pedestrians.
