Spanish municipalities Soria and Guadalajara freeze local taxes

The city councils of Soria and Guadalajara have announced plans to freeze local taxes and municipal fees for the upcoming fiscal period.

In Soria, the City Council will not implement any modifications to tax ordinances or the Property Tax (IBI) for the next year. According to Finance Councilor Javier Muñoz, the decision means all local tax revenues will remain frozen, contrasting with previous years when modest increases were implemented to cover rising personnel costs and municipal services.

In Guadalajara, municipal taxes and fees will be frozen for the third consecutive year. Alfonso Esteban, spokesperson for the Popular Group, stated that while there are no immediate plans to reduce the IBI, the freeze is necessary to ensure the financing of public services. The city must manage rising costs in key contracts, including green zone maintenance, urban transport, and home help services, while addressing previous budgetary imbalances and inflation.
