Spanish municipalities upgrade public lighting with LED technology
Municipalities in Spain are implementing large-scale public lighting renovations to improve energy efficiency and sustainability through LED technology.
In Tarragona, work has begun in the Monnars-Solimar area to replace 218 old streetlights with LED technology. This project, funded by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), aims to reduce energy consumption by approximately 30,277 kWh annually and save 5,073 € per year. The intervention is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by about 10,597 kg per year.
Similarly, Espinosa de los Monteros in Burgos has completed a comprehensive renovation of its outdoor public lighting. The project involved the installation of 720 new LED luminaires from ATP Iluminación. Part of the DUS 5000 Program, which supports clean energy projects in municipalities facing demographic challenges, the upgrade utilizes high-performance technology designed to integrate with the town's historical architectural character.
