Spanish National Court annuls new police station in Roquetas de Mar

The Audiencia Nacional has annulled a ministerial order to create a new National Police station in Roquetas de Mar, Almería. This ruling halts a plan that would have seen the Guardia Civil removed from the municipality.

The decision follows a legal challenge by the Unión de Oficiales (UO), a major association of Guardia Civil officers. The group argued that the new police structure interfered with the competencies of the Guardia Civil.

The court's resolution, dated October 19, declared the creation of the station null because it lacked specific motivation. The ruling noted an “absence of any type of report or previous study” to justify why a new local station was necessary based on demographic or other specific circumstances in the area.
