Spanish national detained near Kalofere on narcotics charges

A Spanish citizen residing in Bulgaria has been detained near Kalofere following an operation by the State Agency for National Security (DANS) and local police. The individual, described by authorities as a “shaman,” is accused of possessing high-risk narcotic substances for distribution.

During the raid on September 27, authorities seized approximately 35 pots containing cacti, mushrooms, and bottles of an unidentified dark liquid. Experts are currently analyzing the substances to determine if they contain psychoactive components. DANS reports that the suspect led a group of followers through psychological manipulation, presenting himself as a “mediator with higher spirits” and promising mental and physical healing.

The Plovdiv District Court is reviewing the prosecution's request for permanent arrest. During the pre-trial phase, investigators have already questioned 14 Bulgarian citizens linked to the group.
