Spanish National Police conduct operation in Ceuta neighborhood
The Spanish National Police carried out an operation in the Poblado Regulares neighborhood of Ceuta this Sunday. The intervention targeted an area that residents described as a dormitory city for immigrants, characterized by people sleeping in streets, plazas, and in front of house entrances.
Approximately one hundred immigrants were evicted from the streets. Local residents had previously requested police intervention due to concerns regarding public health, potential accidents, and general insecurity. The operation resulted in the removal of mattresses, blankets, and other belongings from public spaces.
Authorities are also seeking collaboration to identify and eradicate illegal housing setups used to provide clandestine shelter to immigrants in exchange for money.
