Spanish National Police honor agents and K9 units in Canary Islands

The Spanish National Police held a central ceremony in San Bartolomé de Tirajana to celebrate Police Day, honoring 50 agents and 13 civilians for their service. The event, presided over by Government Delegate Anselmo Pestana and Police Chief Jesús María Gómez Martín, also included a tribute to officers who died in the line of duty and the presentation of merit decorations.

A notable recipient of the Honorable Mention for Relevant Fact was Rony, a Springer Spaniel from the Special Canine Guide Unit of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Rony was recognized for his critical work in locating two deceased individuals in difficult terrain within the Anaga Rural Park in Tenerife and near Telde in Gran Canaria during early 2026. The canine also participated in emergency search operations following the DANA weather event in Valencia.
