Spanish National Police reinforce museum security in Castilla-La Mancha

The Spanish National Police have launched a coordinated operation across Castilla-La Mancha to strengthen security at museums, cultural centers, and institutional headquarters. The initiative aims to prevent the theft of high-value items, specifically gold pieces and jewelry held within regional collections.

Agents from the Judicial Police and Citizen Security brigades, along with Historical Heritage territorial delegates and Private Security Territorial Units, are working together to identify risks and provide security advisory services. The operation involves continuous contact with security personnel and the implementation of surveillance devices around significant locations in provincial capitals.

Specific actions have been taken in several cities:

• Albacete: Coordination with the Museo de Albacete, the Museo Municipal de la Cuchillería, and the Centro de Interpretación Virgen de los Llanos. • Ciudad Real: Meetings with officials managing parish treasures, the Provincial Museum, the Episcopal Diocesan Museum, and the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Prado. • Cuenca: Consultations with the Diocesan Museum and the Archaeological Museum. • Guadalajara: Security reviews with the Provincial Museum. • Toledo: Analysis of security systems at the El Greco Museum.
