Spanish National Police report 1,619 arrests under Plan Costa del Sol

The Spanish National Police's 'Plan Costa del Sol' has resulted in 1,619 arrests across 892 operations targeting drug trafficking, smuggling, and money laundering in the province of Málaga since April 2024.

Authorities reported the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics, including 127 tons of hashish, 18.8 tons of cocaine, 6.1 tons of marijuana, and 1.8 tons of MDMA and ecstasy. Additionally, police confiscated 313 firearms, 626 vehicles of various types, 96,180 packs of contraband tobacco, and 16,452 liters of gasoline.

Financial interventions totaled 12.4 million euros in cash, bank accounts, or assets, alongside movable property valued at approximately 917,382 euros. Javier Salas, the Government Sub-delegate in Málaga, stated that these results underscore the importance the Spanish government places on combating organized crime. The plan, which includes increased police presence in Western Costa del Sol and Málaga city, also operates alongside the Campo de Gibraltar Special Security Plan.
