Spanish opposition parties dispute housing policies in Castellón and Palafrugell

Compromís spokesperson David Guardiola accused the provincial People's Party government in Castellón of abandoning housing policy, saying "no és un problema de competències, és un problema de voluntat política de la dreta en defensar la gent normal". He highlighted that average rents have risen to a historic €9.3 per square metre, with even higher increases in the city of Castellón, making housing unaffordable for young families and hindering the fight against depopulation.

In Palafrugell, Vox councilor Adela García argued that protected‑housing units should give priority to long‑time residents and called for stronger tools to combat local crime. She warned that rising living costs and rent prices are leaving many working families and pensioners in a precarious situation, and urged a review of allocation criteria for social housing and aid.

Both politicians framed housing affordability as a pressing municipal issue and called for decisive action from their respective administrations.
