Spanish parent associations demand urgent school climate control
The Spanish Confederation of Parents and Mothers Associations (CEAPA) has called for urgent measures to improve climate control in schools, alongside requests for free school supplies, increased resources for inclusive education, and a digital education plan focused on artificial intelligence.
In Ibiza, families have reported for months that most schools lack adequate air conditioning or heating systems. The Federation of Student Family Associations (FAPA) in Ibiza noted that families have often had to pay out of pocket for fans or air conditioning units. CEAPA president María Sánchez Martín criticized current state-level progress as insufficient, stating it is unreasonable to ask families to provide fans or to modify school schedules during heatwaves.
Additionally, the PSOE political party has proposed allocating three million euros for school climate control and the creation of vouchers for purchasing school materials. They are also calling for a second Edificant Plan and the implementation of school nursing services.
