Spanish parks in Nigrán and Málaga plagued by youth vandalism

In the coastal town of Nigrán, residents have reported that groups of young people regularly gather in a local playground to smoke marijuana, paint slides and other equipment, and confront older locals who try to intervene. Several confrontations have been described, with one resident saying he shouted “Police!” before the youths dispersed. Neighbours say the problem recurs each summer and that police have not responded adequately, prompting calls for increased patrols.

In Málaga’s Parque del Agua, neighbours of the Camino del Colmenar path have complained that a group of youths lit a bonfire near residential houses, leaving broken bottles, litter and ash on the ground. The fire was set during the weekend night, raising concerns about the risk of a larger blaze in the dry vegetation surrounding the area. Residents also note repeated vandalism of park gates, benches and waste bins, and say they have reported the incidents to the local police.

Both incidents highlight growing concerns over public safety, vandalism and insufficient police action in Spanish parks during the summer season.
