Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez Tightens Security Ahead of Lanzarote Vacation

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is set to spend his annual family holiday at the La Mareta residence in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, for the seventh consecutive year. Security forces have added temporary cameras around the palace and will deploy a team of 30‑50 Guardia Civil agents to guard the site.

The nearby El Ancla beach has been closed after water tests found elevated Escherichia coli levels. The Union of Civil Guard personnel in the Canary Islands warned that agents receive little notice for the deployment, complicating accommodation and travel arrangements during the peak summer season.
