Pedro Sánchez’s family faces media strain as choreographer Nacho Duato backs his brother

Choreographer Nacho Duato appeared on the TV program "Cara al Show" where he defended David Sánchez, the brother of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and spoke about the pressure on the Sánchez family. Duato said he had recently met Sánchez’s father, who had worked as manager of the Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música, and told him, "Vi hace poco al padre de Sánchez. Le dije que lo debían de estar pasando fatal con los dos hijos y la nuera, y estaban destrozados." He criticized the current political class for not attending theatres or ballets and highlighted his long‑standing personal connection with the family. Duato also praised David Sánchez as an excellent orchestral director, countering accusations of favoritism.

The remarks come amid ongoing media and judicial scrutiny of the prime minister’s family, adding a cultural‑sector voice to the public debate.
