Spanish police arrest Romanian fugitive in Denia

Spanish National Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in Denia, Spain, who was wanted under a European Arrest Warrant issued by Romanian authorities. The individual is accused of a violent robbery committed in Targoviste, Romania, in 2019.

During the 2019 incident, the suspect and an accomplice allegedly attacked two men on a public street. The suspect is accused of stealing a high-end mobile phone from one victim while punching the second victim in the face to prevent intervention. The suspect fled Romania before he could face trial and potentially serve a three-year prison sentence.

An officer from the Denia station identified the fugitive and confirmed his identity through police systems, which revealed the active warrant. The suspect also has a criminal record in Spain for property crimes. He has been transferred to the Central Court of Instruction of the National Court to begin extradition proceedings.
