Spanish police arrest suspects in Madrid taxi stabbing and Granada 'cuddle hug' robbery

In the Usera district of Madrid, the National Police detained a 27-year-old Spanish man and a 25-year-old Nicaraguan after they assaulted a 23-year-old taxi driver. The suspects entered the taxi, threatened the driver with a kitchen knife, and stabbed him in the abdomen when he refused to take an additional fare. The driver was treated on‑scene and transferred to Hospital 12 de Octubre with a serious condition. Police recovered the weapon and arrested the attackers shortly after the incident.

Separately, the Guardia Civil in Granada arrested a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman in Chauchina for a robbery carried out using the so‑called "cuddle hug" method. The pair approached a woman, pretended to seek information, and forcibly pulled a necklace from her neck, causing neck abrasions. The victim received medical care, and the suspects were apprehended as part of a broader crackdown on this type of crime across several provinces.
