Spanish police crack down on illegal vehicle gatherings
Law enforcement agencies in Spain have taken action against unauthorized vehicle gatherings in Málaga and Palma.
In Málaga, local police issued 55 citations during a special operation near the Azucarera-Intelhorce road in the Guadalhorce business park. Officers identified approximately 80 vehicles at the scene. The most frequent violation was speeding, resulting in 42 citations. Other infractions included driving without insurance, driving without a valid technical inspection (ITV), and alcohol consumption. Two individuals are under investigation for road safety crimes: one for driving without ever obtaining a license, and another for exceeding the legal alcohol limit.
In Palma, local police responded to a private motor event involving approximately 7,000 people that caused significant traffic congestion on the Camí Fondo. Organizers were issued two serious infringement notices for hosting the event without a license and operating an unauthorized paid parking lot on rural land. Police reported that the influx of vehicles forced cars onto road shoulders and created safety risks for pedestrians. The matter has been referred to the Palma City Council's Activities Department for further proceedings.
