Spanish police crackdown on illegal motorcycle race and extreme speeding

On 14 June 2026, the Guardia Civil in Valencia intervened on the A‑7 near Torrent, halting a convoy of about 25 motorcyclists that were performing dangerous stunts. Six participants were arrested, including two minors, after a confrontation that left a police lieutenant lightly injured and an official vehicle damaged. The detainees face charges for reckless driving, drug use and, if proven, for forming a criminal group.

Earlier, on 8 June, a driver was investigated after being recorded traveling 214 km/h on the A‑49 near Gibraleón in Huelva, far exceeding the 120 km/h limit. The offence is classified as a serious traffic crime, exposing the driver to possible imprisonment, fines, and a multi‑year driving‑license suspension. Authorities highlighted the role of speed‑monitoring devices in detecting such violations and reiterated the heightened risk that extreme speed poses to road safety.
