Spanish police detain several individuals during summer events in northern towns

During the summer security operation in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria, the Guardia Civil arrested three men aged 28, 24 and 34. One was suspected of drug trafficking, another was detained for ignoring two outstanding search and arrest orders, and the third was caught after stealing a mobile phone. The operation, part of “Operación Verano” and the Safe Night Plan, also resulted in 54 administrative complaints for drug possession, weapon carrying and public order offences, and the seizure of cannabis and cocaine.

In a separate incident in Colunga, Asturias, a father and son who were staying at a second residence were detained after they assaulted a local police officer who asked them to move their car from a loading‑zone. The younger man punched the officer, causing bruises and minor injuries; both men were later taken into custody by the Guardia Civil. A complaint has been filed for assault and resistance to authority.
