Two arrested in Albacete copper cable theft worth €100,000
The Guardia Civil’s ROCA team in Albacete detained two men, aged 27 and 35, on suspicion of stealing copper cable from a construction site in the industrial zone of Chinchilla de Monte‑Aragón. The victims reported a loss valued at roughly €100,000, including a coil and numerous cable sections. Police traced a distinctive van linked to previous copper‑theft incidents, recovered it in Tarancón (Cuenca) with empty hose sections that matched the missing material, and used the evidence to locate and arrest the suspects. The case is being processed by the Albacete criminal court under the permanent anti‑copper‑theft plan.
