Spanish police launch safety and fraud prevention programs for the elderly

Spanish law enforcement agencies are intensifying prevention programs aimed at protecting elderly citizens from security risks, fraud, and abuse.

In San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the National Police will conduct 18 workshops across nine neighborhoods between October 15 and March. The sessions are divided into two main areas: providing safety recommendations to prevent risk situations and teaching the detection of abuse, maltreatment, or neglect, while identifying available resources for victims.

In Valencia, the Local Police are expanding their ‘Ayudar a Prevenir’ (Help to Prevent) initiative. This program focuses on protecting seniors from banking fraud, scams, and economic or patrimonial abuse. These crimes can be perpetrated by strangers or through deception by those in the victim's close circle. During the 2025/2026 course, the program reached 54,703 people through 2,096 talks held at municipal activity centers.
