Spanish police seize 1,590 illegal street‑vendor goods in Roses as Barcelona market stalls face crackdown

Hundreds of officers from the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Guardia Civil, the National Police and the local police in Roses carried out a coordinated summer operation against the illegal “top‑manta” trade. The raid resulted in the seizure of 1,590 items, including 532 pairs of sandals, 443 beach bags, 422 branded stickers, 131 metal logos, 36 scarves and three belts, aiming to protect public spaces and legal commerce.

In Barcelona’s Sant Antoni market, collectors hunting for rare World Cup stickers reported a parallel rise in illegal street sales. Vendors were offering prized cards such as Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo stickers at inflated prices, prompting the city’s urban guard to assign patrol agents to the market in an effort to curb the black‑market activity and protect buyers.
