Spanish police union Jupol warns of lack of government coordination for protests

The police union Jupol has accused government delegations and sub-delegations of creating an unprecedented situation by failing to provide service orders and operational instructions necessary to plan public order deployments.

According to the union, the lack of information regarding communicated demonstrations and other events affecting public order is particularly severe in Madrid. Jupol stated that this failure compromises the anticipation, coordination, and response capacity of specialized units, such as the Intervention Police Unit (UIP) and the Prevention and Reaction Units (UPR).

The union noted that this breakdown in communication is occurring amidst rising social conflict regarding housing issues, a general strike scheduled for November 11, and the upcoming elections on November 29. Jupol characterized the situation as an extreme irresponsibility, suggesting that the lack of coordination could jeopardize citizen security during a period of heightened political and social activity.
