Spanish political group proposes new music and dance conservatories

The PSOE parliamentary group in Madrid has submitted a non-legislative proposal to the Assembly of Madrid to restore the Professional Conservatory of Music in Arganda del Rey, which closed in 2012. The initiative also seeks the creation of a new Professional Conservatory of Dance in the municipality.

Proposed by deputy Esteban Álvarez León, the plan suggests using the existing Municipal School of Music in Arganda as a foundation for the music conservatory. The proposal requests that the Community of Madrid include the necessary investments and resources in the 2027 budgets to meet the requirements established by Royal Decree 303/2010.

This move follows a similar motion presented by the local Arganda del Rey City Council in February, which aimed to reintegrate these artistic teachings into the regional network of conservatories.
