Spanish political leaders debate future election timelines and government stability

Spanish political leaders are debating the future electoral landscape and the stability of the current government. Vox leader Santiago Abascal warned the People's Party (PP) against assuming Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has been defeated, claiming the President will attempt every possible measure to remain in power. Abascal specifically referenced potential legal maneuvers regarding the voting rights of citizens registered in the CERA census to maintain political advantage.

Separately, the President of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, proposed a hypothesis that general elections could be held as early as March 2027. Page suggested that Sánchez might choose to advance the election date to avoid the political exhaustion associated with the municipal and regional elections scheduled for May 2027. This strategic move would theoretically prevent the government from facing the cumulative wear of multiple electoral cycles in close succession.
