Spanish political parties prepare for 2027 elections

Political preparations for the 2027 municipal and regional elections are underway in Spain. In Asturias, President Adrián Barbón defended his administration's economic management during a PSOE event in La Camperona. Barbón highlighted population growth and a significant increase in Social Security contributors, contrasting his government's performance with the previous administration's economic difficulties.

In the province of Valencia, the People's Party (PP) is finalizing its candidate lists for the upcoming municipal elections. The party expects to announce mayoral candidates for 266 municipalities on September 11. Internal shifts and changes in leadership are anticipated in several strategic locations, including Catarroja, Paterna, and Sagunt, as the party seeks to become more competitive in areas traditionally held by the PSPV.
