Spanish political tensions rise over municipal budget and policy delays

In Spain, the PSOE party has raised concerns regarding municipal governance in both Molina de Segura and Valladolid.

In Molina de Segura, the PSOE has denounced a proposal by the local government, composed of the PP and Vox, to withdraw approximately 2.26 million euros from planned investments. This reduction affects 31 budget items, including funding for schools, parking, street lighting, security, and various infrastructures. While the proposal allows for the possibility of reprogramming these funds later, the PSOE criticizes the lack of specific dates or identified resources to ensure their eventual implementation.

In Valladolid, the PSOE has accused the local government led by Jesús Julio Carnero of delaying decisions on equality and housing to avoid conflict with Vox ahead of upcoming elections. The party noted that the VII Municipal Integral Plan for Equality and against Gender Violence has not been updated since its previous term expired in December. Additionally, motions to modify the access protocol for municipal rental housing—aimed at supporting women victims of violence and vulnerable individuals—were rejected by the PP and Vox in committee.
