Vito Quiles investigated for alleged fraud in Valencia storm donation campaign

The Fiscalía de Sevilla has filed a formal complaint against ultra‑right activist Vito Quiles, alleging fraud in the collection of charitable donations intended for children affected by the DANA storm in Valencia and for youth scholarships. The investigation follows a complaint by consumer association FACUA‑Consumidores en Acción filed on 20 July, which claims Quiles solicited money via his Telegram channel from 1 January 2025 and through the website of his media outlet Combativos. Both channels purportedly raised funds for toys and scholarships, but the money was deposited into the same personal bank account Quiles has used since July 2022 to finance his own activities. The prosecutor’s decree, issued on 23 July, states the case is not merely exploratory and cites “evidence of actions that could be criminal” under article 248 of the Spanish Penal Code. The case has been referred to the Section of Instruction of the Tribunal de Instancia de Sevilla for further investigation.
