Spanish railway services face disruptions in Asturias and Galicia
Multiple railway incidents involving Renfe services have caused significant delays and passenger discomfort in Spain.
In Asturias, a morning train traveling from Asturias to Madrid experienced a breakdown shortly after departing at 06:30. The convoy became stranded on a bridge near Campomanes, just before the Pajares Variant tunnels, for approximately five hours. Passengers reported critical conditions inside the carriages, including a lack of lighting, air conditioning, electrical power, and functioning toilets. Guardia Civil officers boarded the train to communicate with passengers during the delay. While initial plans suggested reversing the train to Campomanes, the service eventually resumed its journey toward Madrid, arriving around 15:00.
In Galicia, an Alvia service traveling from Ourense to Santiago de Compostela also faced disruptions. On Sunday night, the train reportedly came to a halt and lost all interior lighting shortly after leaving Ourense. The incident occurred around 22:00, affecting travelers returning to the regional capital for the start of the work and school week. The specific causes and the exact duration of the power loss have not yet been confirmed.
