Spanish Refereeing Committee releases CARD manual for transparency
The Spanish Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) has released a detailed manual titled CARD to increase transparency regarding officiating decisions. The guide, available on the organization's website, provides technical criteria, rules, and guidelines to clarify controversial or “gray area” plays.
The manual covers various aspects of the game, including handball penalties, arm actions, serious foul play, violent conduct, offsides, and protests. It integrates IFAB rules with the specific criteria used by Spanish referees, utilizing visual aids such as graphics and videos from real LaLiga matches to illustrate complex scenarios.
CTA President Fran Soto stated that the initiative aims to offer greater transparency and share knowledge to bring refereeing closer to football fans.
