Spanish regional administrations report varying supplier payment periods
Data from the Ministry of Finance indicates that several Spanish autonomous communities exceeded the legal 30-day limit for supplier payments in August. The regions with the longest average payment periods were the Balearic Islands (53.42 days), Murcia (42.38 days), Cantabria (38.51 days), Asturias (32.86 days), and Catalonia (32.00 days).
On a national level, the average payment period for all autonomous communities rose to 27.05 days, remaining below the legal threshold. The central administration recorded a period of 26.46 days. Commercial debt stood at 4,817.6 million euros at the end of August, representing 0.27% of the national GDP.
In Morella, local officials are working to reduce the average payment period to under 30 days. While the City Council's average was 31.51 days for the third quarter of 2026, the Integrated Economic Services Center (CISE) saw a significant reduction from previous years, despite currently sitting at 66.64 days.
