Spanish regional and municipal budgets propose tax relief and investment
In Castilla y León, the Partido Popular (PP) estimates that the proposed 2027 regional budget will provide tax benefits exceeding 140 million euros to the province of Burgos, impacting more than 100,000 residents. Additionally, improvements to the regional IRPF income tax rates are expected to save citizens in the province an extra 17 million euros. PP spokesperson Marta Arroyo noted that these measures aim to fulfill campaign commitments while maintaining public services through economic growth and increased employment.
In Gijón, Finance Councilor María Mitre defended the city's new budget of 325.5 million euros, describing it as a period of maturity for municipal finances. The budget includes a general freeze on taxes, adhering to mayoral commitments. While most taxes remain unchanged, the administration is introducing specific adjustments, such as bonuses for accessibility and efficiency works, and new fees related to road safety. The plan also includes tax reductions for the construction of protected housing to address local housing access issues.
