Spanish regional authorities fund equality and violence prevention programs

Local governments in Spain are allocating significant funds toward equality and gender violence prevention initiatives.

In San Sebastián de los Reyes, the City Council will invest 29,000 euros into an educational program for primary school students. Scheduled to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year, the project will target 5th and 6th graders through at least 50 workshops. These sessions aim to dismantle gender stereotypes, promote emotional intelligence, and address the responsible use of social media to prevent controlling behaviors.

Separately, the Diputación de Cádiz has announced a 520,000 euro allocation for 2026 to support equality projects across the province. The funding will benefit 151 entities, including 59 women's associations, eight LGTBI collectives, and 84 non-profit organizations. These subsidies are designed to fund initiatives focused on gender equality, the prevention of gender-based violence, and the defense of LGTBI rights.
