Spanish regional business reports show record turnover and sector growth

New economic data reveals significant growth in several Spanish regions. In Girona, the business fabric reached a record turnover of 37,039 million euros in 2024, a 1.9% increase from the previous year. This growth was accompanied by a 2.2% rise in commercial companies and a 2.7% increase in declared employment, totaling 177,095 people. The food and beverage sector remains the leading industry in the region, accounting for approximately 20% of total turnover.

In the Valencian Community, agro-food companies now account for 12.9% of total sales in Spain. The region leads the country in the retail distribution of food products with a 22.2% market share, closely followed by the Community of Madrid at 21.8%. While the food processing industry in Valencia holds an 8.4% market share, the primary sector remains highly atomized, consisting of many small and medium-sized enterprises.
